AN IVECO DAILY L3 H2 FOR HEAVY MACHINERY ASSISTANCE
A Daily L3 H2 for servicing heavy machinery
How to make roadside assistance more efficient
A well-organised van is the key to success for anybody who provides assistance for heavy trucks, agricultural and forestry machinery. Jobs can be done under widely differing conditions and can depend on a variety of factors. In an emergency, the location can be a country road, a forest route through the mountains or a track made treacherous by mud. In the case of scheduled servicing, the conditions will be quite different and operators may need to move around in confined spaces like garages or machine sheds.
Three factors, however, are common to all these situations: TIME•ORDER•SAFETY. To provide an efficient and professional service, it is essential to avoid wasting time by having everything at hand and by working safely.
Given these requirements, let us try to summarise, in just a few lines, what characteristics distinguish a true professional from the mechanic who is simply winging it!
The 5 ESSENTIALS for a remote assistance van
ESSENTIAL no.1 - Well organised and immediately accessible tools. Everything needs to be in the right place and instantly accessible one you have wiped the grease off your hands!
ESSENTIAL no.2 - Electrical energy and compressed air for working anywhere. A mechanic simply can’t work without electrical power and compressed air! Equipment to make the van fully autonomous must therefore be integrated in the solution.
ESSENTIAL no.3 - A safe, ergonomic workspace. The work area must allow precision jobs to be carried out on stable, well-lit surfaces.
ESSENTIAL no.4 - Proper handling of liquids and consumables. Oils, coolants, spare parts and other materials need to be transported in an appropriate manner to eliminate risk.
ESSENTIAL no.5 - Sturdy, reliable equipment. The professional mechanic’s equipment must be made to outlast the machinery he repairs. He should not have to worry about problems of vibration, corrosion or liners and racking working loose from their fixing points.
Syncro’s solution for a mechanical assistance firm’s Iveco Daily
On this page we present an Iveco Daily that Syncro fitted out for a company that provides mechanical assistance for heavy vehicles and machinery. The van is an L3 H2 variant with plenty of space inside. Its generous size has allowed the various interior surfaces to be assigned different functions: on the right we have the work area, on the left the storage area, and on the bulkhead the autonomous power system. Let’s take a closer look at how the requirements listed above have been satisfied in this van.

ESSENTIAL no.1 - Well organised and immediately accessible tools
Racking has been installed on both sides of this Daily to keep all the tools, instruments, spare parts and sundries needed for the job neat and tidy. On the left we have:
- a floor-level compartment over the wheel arch, fully enclosed by a lift-up door
- a sealed, stainless-steel tray for transporting cans of fuel and oil
- four large metal drawers with non-slip mats and internal space dividers
- a total of six configurable shelves, one of which is enclosed by a top-pivot door, the others being open and directly accessible
- a series of Multibox cabinets containing a total of 24 pull-out transparent containers
- a full-length top tray for long items, with an access door at the back of the van.
The rear-facing side panel has been equipped with a rail and lashing strap for securing heavy items, a paper roll holder and a reel for the compressed line connected to the compressor.
ESSENTIAL no.2 - Electrical energy and compressed air for working anywhere
The bulkhead of the Daily is equipped to ensure the autonomy needed to work at remote sites. Seen here is a powerful compressor-generator combo connected to a compressed air tank. From the combo, a pipe delivers compressed air to the hose reel located at the left rear door and a cable delivers electrical power to the Ecoflow Delta 2 unit located on a shelf in the left-side racking.
ESSENTIAL no.3 - A safe ergonomic workspace
The right of the Daily has been transformed into a compact but complete work area comprising:
- a workbench in marble-look plywood with raised sides and back
- a set of 10 metal drawers for tools and small parts
- an enclosed compartment at floor level
- a fold-away bench complete with telescopic support and vice
The work area and the whole of the interior is brightly lit by LED tube lights installed under the roof and an LED spotlight located above the left-side racking.
ESSENTIAL no.4 - Proper handling of liquids and consumables
A sealed, stainless-steel tray in the forward floor-level compartment of the left racking provides the perfect solution for carrying cans of oil, fuel and other liquids. A drip tray keeps the bottoms of the cans clean and ensures that any drips and spillages fall to the bottom of the tray, which can be pulled out periodically for cleaning. A lashing strap at the front of the compartment keeps jerry cans and containers securely in place during transport.
ESSENTIAL no.5 - Sturdy, reliable equipment
Last but not least, robust interior liners, installed before the racking and accessories, are key to ensuring the durability of the vehicle. The Daily seen in these photos is fitted with a floor liner made from marble-look plywood with stainless-steel anchor cups and edge profiles. The walls of the van are protected by panels of grey, galvanised and painted steel. Top-quality materials like high-strength steel and PMMA ensure the sturdiness and reliability of Syncro racking, which all Syncro dealers install according to standard, guaranteed procedures.
