A COMPARISON OF TWO DAILYS IN VICENZA
An Iveco Daily L3 H2 vs. an L1 H1, both with Syncro racking
The paradox of space: a large van with less racking vs. a small one with more racking
Has anybody told you that the bigger your van, the more racking you can install? We want to explain why this isn’t necessarily the case!
Because Syncro System racking solutions are always tailor-made, there is no such thing as a fixed rule. On this page we compare two Syncro solutions for the Iveco Daily. The first van is a spacious L3 H2 variant operated by a cemetery service while the second is the much smaller L1 H1 variant belonging to a plumbing and construction firm.
A comparison of racking solutions in two Daily vans: one large, one small
Though both for companies that operate in the Italian province of Vicenza, these two Daily racking solutions use space in very different ways.
The interior of the larger Daily appears almost empty, but the side walls have been left free by strategy, not as a result of forgetfulness. By comparison, the smaller Daily looks very full. Though the van appears tightly packed, however, everything contributes to the aim of perfect order and organisation.
Daily 1
Cemetery maintenance requires the transport of heavy, awkward implements like picks, shovels, wooden boards, and even equipment like mini-diggers. This van therefore needs plenty of free floor space, so only a small column of racking has been installed along with cargo retaining accessories and robust liners to protect the bodywork against dirt and damage.
Daily 2
Construction and plumbing work comes in a thousand different forms. The challenge is therefore to always be ready for the next call without having to stop work to return to base. This van has therefore been turned into a well-equipped mobile toolbox, with everything precisely located to avoid delays and improve efficiency.
Don’t forget the liners!
Whatever your job and whatever van you drive, protecting the bodywork should always be your first consideration. In the case of the vans seen on this page, Daily 1 came into Syncro’s workshops with a floor liner already installed. Our staff supplemented this by adding galvanised, grey-painted steel wall panels. Syncro equipped Daily 2 with a floor liner and bulkhead liner made from marble-look plywood and wall panelling made from galvanised, painted steel as in the first van.

Optimising space in the Daily: the left wall
Daily 1
The racking on this side of the van is designed to accommodate bulky items and large tools. The single column consists of a floor-level compartment, three configurable shelves and a case compartment with strap and shuttle. A fire extinguisher bracket is fixed to the rear-facing side panel.
Daily 2
In this van the left wall is used to provide storage mainly for tools and consumables. The two floor-level compartments are optimally configured. That over the wheel arch has been turned into a useful storage space by the addition of a small lift-and-rotate door. That towards the front of the van is equipped with a strap-type case transport kit.
Further up we find two drawers and a series of shelves: four open configurable shelves with non-slip mats and metal space dividers, a fifth configurable shelf with a top-pivot door, and one plain shelf with a lift-and-rotate door. The racking on this side also includes two pull-out trays carrying a total of four metal cases. A paper roll holder has been fixed to the side panel near the rear doors.
Racking or accessories? It depends on your needs! The right wall of the Daily
Daily 1
The right side of this Daily for a Vicenza cemetery service is almost completely free. The only item of racking as such is a small bench over the wheel arch, with a plywood panel on top, for securing cargo against the right wall. The only other items present are cargo retaining accessories. Syncro has installed two Airline profile aluminium rails and two sets of attachments with lashing straps.
Daily 2
The racking on the right of the Vicenza building and plumbing firm’s Daily is divided into sections of different depth. The lower section, deep enough to enclose the wheel arch, consists of a floor-level compartment and a shelf with a low door. The upper sections comprise reduced depth Multibox cabinets holding a total of twenty tilting transparent containers.
Details that change your perception of space
The racking solution in Daily 1 is enhanced by several accessories. Among these are a roof-mounted extractor fan that ensures adequate air exchange inside the van, under-roof LED tube lights and, on the doors, a UFO2 double lock to deter break-ins and theft.
Daily 2 incorporates a very special design feature: a fold-away vice bench installed in an unusual position – on the racking side panel at the van’s side door. This location enables the bench to be used from the ground and boasts the dual advantage of not protruding into rain outside the van and not hindering access through the rear doors.
The van’s bulkhead is fitted with a Syncroblock bar and a lashing strap.
