What is the difference between a van with Syncro racking and one with no special equipment?

Look at the photos of this Iveco Daily and try to imagine it as it left the factory: just an empty space with bare sheet metal, no lashing straps on the walls, no energy source, and no storage. Such a van would be no more than a container. Everything needed for a job would have to be thrown onto the floor, and would have to be emptied, tidied up and reorganised every evening to avoid slowing down work the following day. In short, a lot of time and space wasted and, of course, a very unprofessional image presented to customers.

The difference is clear! The Daily L3 H2 presented on this page is used to maintain the various infrastructures managed by the multi-utility company that owns it. The van has been thoroughly transformed by Syncro based on a racking project agreed with the customer. The cargo compartment has been turned into a mobile workshop with plenty of space to safely store tools, equipment and spare parts, and the van has been equipped with everything needed for complete autonomy, increasing efficiency rather than slowing things down.

Before the racking was installed, the Daily’s interior was protected with an aluminium tread plate liner for the floor, grey galvanized and painted steel panels for the walls, and resin-coated, marine grade plywood for the bulkhead.

Autonomy... real added value

Operational autonomy is one of the key features of this racking solution. The employees of a multi-utility company have to face different situations every day and cannot always expect to find an electrical power outlet or running water on the job site. Knowing this, everything in this van is designed for self-sufficiency:

  • An Ecoflow Delta Pro power station combined with an Alternator Charger and Smart Cooling Deck provides portable power for power tools, electrical and electronic devices, with charging provided directly by the vehicle’s alternator whenever the engine is running.
  • A mini-hoist on right wall allows heavy materials and equipment to be handled without risk or fatigue.
  • A winch on the bulkhead, combined with a loading ramp (not visible in these photos but normally stowed inside the van), allows large wheeled loads to be loaded with ease.
  • A water tank with hose reel and pump serve as a pressure washer, allowing equipment and surfaces to be washed and cleaned on the spot.

Thanks to all this equipment, this Daily has everything needed to work at full capacity regardless of jobsite logistics!

Order and autonomy on the left of the Daily

The Daily’s left wall is divided into two sections.

  • The area near the rear doors consists of a wheel arch compartment with a lift-up door and a marble-look plywood work surface. The enclosed compartment houses the air tank for the compressor, while the shelf is used to support cargo, which can be secured using the retaining accessories on the wall behind. Two Syncroblock bars with hooks and lashing straps are provided for this purpose.A compressed air hose reel is mounted on the compartment’s side panel.
  • The forward section of racking reaches up to the van’s roof. At floor level is a case compartment with a lashing strap. Moving up we have an open shelf with a frame for the Ecoflow unit, Alternator Charger and Smart Cooling Deck, another open shelf with the compressor head, a third small open shelf, four configurable shelves and a full-length top tray.

Ample storage and a hoist on the right of the Daily

The right of the Daily is configured as well-organised storage for consumables. A floor-level compartment with a lift-up door supports six metal drawers of two different sizes and a series of three shelves with lift-and-rotate doors. Between them, these storage elements enable fasteners, fittings, tools and spare parts to be kept in perfect order and always to hand. The rear-facing side panel is equipped with a bar rack with flange and lashing strap. In the space between the rear door and the racking, Syncro has installed a hoist with a capacity of up to 200 kg. This consists of a vertical post firmly secured to the vehicle’s structure at the top and bottom, a manually operated, swinging telescopic arm and a 12 V winch with a remote control.

The bulkhead work area

The Daily’s bulkhead has been transformed into a work area with a very special feature. The workbench itself is supported by a stainless-steel water tank that supplies a pump located underneath. This in turn feeds the hose on the yellow reel at the top, which serves as a pressure washer. The work surface itself is made from marine grade, resin-coated plywood with raised back and side panels. A document pocket is installed just over the bench.

The van is uniformly illuminated by a series of low-consumption LED tube lights installed under the roof while temperature is controlled by an air conditioning unit located just behind the cab, also under the roof. An LED light bar has also been added, facing outwards from the rear doors.
