DAILY FOR HEAVY VEHICLE ASSISTANCE

Among the vans that always call for a bespoke conversion are those used for the mechanical assistance of heavy vehicles.

Let's look in detail at the project prepared by Syncro System's expert technicians for the Daily.

An important part of the conversion work is preliminary and involves lining the van to protect the internal surfaces of the bodywork. There's no doubt that lining improves the look of the load area, but the purpose of the installation isn't just aesthetic — above all, it's about protection: with protective panels, the floor, walls and doors last longer and remain free from cuts and dents that trigger the harmful effects of rust.

In this Daily for interventions on heavy vehicles the floor has been covered with a laminated wood floor in resin-coated marine plywood, as has the cab-separation bulkhead, where the resin-coated marine plywood panels have been fitted vertically to follow the contours of the vehicle. What makes the Syncro System floor unique are the details: stainless steel cups and edging guarantee very good mechanical resistance and excellent protection of the underlying metal sheet against corrosion. Custom-made steel panels are fitted to the walls and doors: maximum resistance, lightness and brightness.

The furniture installed in this Daily covers the whole height of the wall. On the left we find:

• a unit made up of two identical columns with a floor-level compartment with a fully-opening door and lower door, plus four metal drawers with non-slip mats and internal dividers;
• a work bench in resin-coated marine plywood which extends beyond the width of the unit below to join the work bench occupying the cab-separation bulkhead;
• near the rear door, the wall has been fitted with a locking system made up of hooks and straps that secures a lightweight folding ramp during transport: it's simple to fit and can be done directly by the vehicle owner whenever needed;
• the cargo bars.

In this Daily for heavy vehicle assistance four cargo bars have been fitted: these are metal bars placed vertically in the load area to divide up the available space and prevent any significant movement of the stored material. Thanks to the practical click-lock system with rubber end caps, this model's bars can be positioned wherever they're needed and then moved as requirements change.

Their function is to divide up the space in the van efficiently, without having to fit actual physical barriers. The bar thus acts as a bracing point for bulky loads, for securely lashing down the cargo.

The long L-shaped work bench that runs along the left-hand wall up to the cab-separation bulkhead is one of the distinctive features of this van's conversion, one of the details that has a decisive influence on the customer's operational efficiency. It makes it possible to carry out maintenance and adjustment work with ease, just as in a workshop.

The cab-separation bulkhead of the Daily has been fitted out in keeping with the rest of the vehicle: the unit is made up of a work bench, four metal drawers and a shelf with a door at floor level. What sets this furniture apart from the rest of the van is the presence of a sliding vice support with a metal vice. Pulled outwards through the side door, it offers an extra, very stable work surface for small jobs.

The Syncro accessories inside this Daily serve various purposes:

• lashing accessories: on the wall and on the front of the left-hand furniture, alongside the floor-level compartment near the cab-separation bulkhead, there are profiled rails to combine with hooks and straps. These are highly flexible elements that can be used to securely fix various types of accessories as and when needed, without cluttering up the space;
• lighting accessories: a series of LED ceiling lights provides even lighting throughout the load area. Six lamps are fitted to the ceiling, with one more positioned above the work bench on the left;
• Van wiring and power supply: a power strip has been fitted above the work bench at the rear of the vehicle. This is the starting point of the van's wiring, which runs out through an opening to the outside, located along the left-hand wall, to supply power to devices connected inside the load area and to a cable reel on the right-hand wall;
• a portable compressor has been placed in the floor-level compartment against the cab-separation bulkhead.
