A TRANSPORTER WITH SYNCRO SYSTEM RACKING FOR A SYSTEMS INSTALLER
A Transporter L1 H1 with racking for a plumber-electrician
Ergonomics, functionality and space saving: can you really have everything in your van?
Syncro System can satisfy all customer needs. Even seemingly impossible requests can be turned into practical solutions!
Based on thirty plus years of experience in the van racking sector, Syncro knows that some needs are almost universal:
1. Movements inside a van have to be as ergonomic as possible. To achieve this, for a start, everything has to have a place of its own, selected on the basis of frequency of use; then the racking must be arranged in a way that eliminates unnecessary movement and minimises the risk of injury.
2. Functionality needs to be maximised. The solutions adopted must speed up your day-to-day tasks. Containers must be easy to open and close and located where they really need to be. Each racking system must be designed to satisfy the working needs of the individual customer!
3. Available space must be optimised. This applies to all vans, but is particularly important in small vans where every inch is precious.
A custom racking solution in a plumber-electrician’s VW Transporter
The photos on this page illustrate a solution installed in a VW Transporter L1 H1 owned by a systems installer.
All the requirements listed above come into play in this case. The space available in a compact van has been optimised by concentrating the racking on the left wall and limiting use of the right wall and bulkhead to a wall-mounted cabinet and a few accessories. This leaves plenty of room for loading bulky cargo through the side and rear doors. Functionality and ergonomics are ensured by well-organised and easily accessible storage spaces and by the addition of a number of carefully selected accessories, including some on the rear doors. And a roof rack has been installed to save even more space inside the van! Before all this work was done, the walls and doors were lined with galvanised steel panelling to protect against unnecessary damage.
The next paragraphs describe just how Syncro transformed this van.

Some great racking ideas for system installers
Everything on one side: the case of a Transporter
The left of this Transporter for a systems installer is fully occupied by racking. The configuration includes two floor-level compartments, one partly enclosed by a lift-and-rotate door, the other open; six metal drawers of different sizes; two trays for metal cases; two configurable shelves; one MultiBox cabinet with twelve pull-out transparent containers; and one full-length top tray with an access door at the back of the van.
A selection of useful accessories makes this racking configuration particularly functional, The rear-facing side panel is equipped with a rack for silicone tubes and nozzles and a fire extinguisher bracket. On the door is a handwash kit consisting of with water tank with tap, and a paper roll holder.
The shelf at the front of the van is equipped with a strip of Schuko sockets. This is connected to an inverter mounted at the top of the bulkhead and to the vehicle’s own power system.
Plenty of space and plenty of racking in the Transporter
The right wall and bulkhead of the Transporter are almost completely free.
At the top of the right wall is a cabinet of eight transparent containers that can be tilted open and completely removed if necessary. About half-way up the wall is an Airline profile bar that can be used with hooks and straps to secure cargo. The right rear door has been fitted with a ventilation grille.
In addition to the inverter mentioned above, a Syncroblock bar with a cable holder has also been fitted at the top of the bulkhead.
You can do a whole lot more if you use your van’s roof!
Extra carrying capacity is always useful, and if it doesn’t take up space inside, all the better. Have you thought about using your van’s roof?
The roof of this Transporter has been fitted with a roof rack complete with side fences, Ultrasilent profile and rear loading roller, and an aluminium pipe carrier with a door at the rear.
This additional equipment lets you:
- safely transport long objects such as pipes, conduits, ladders and bars without taking up space inside the van
- simplify loading and unloading by carrying different materials on the roof and in the cargo compartment
- make more efficient use of the vehicle even for complex jobs that require a large amount of equipment
