RENAULT MASTER RACKING FOR A PLUMBING AND HEATING FIRM
A Renault Master L2 H2 fitted out by Syncro for plumbing and heating
An organised mobile workshop cuts response times
On this page we look in detail at the fit-out carried out by Syncro technicians on a Renault Master L2 H2 owned by a plumbing and heating engineer in Salerno.
The chosen configuration answers a precise need of the customer: cutting response times by keeping clutter and wasted journeys to a minimum. The Syncro design focused on ergonomics and functionality, making the most of the height and length of the vehicle and creating two clearly separate areas, one used as a store and one as a workshop.
To protect the bodywork as fully as possible without adding too much to the total weight of the vehicle, the walls and the doors were lined internally with honeycomb polypropylene panelling. This material combines strength and impact resistance with low weight. The owner had already fitted the flooring and chose not to line the bulkhead.
Four logistical advantages of separating the store from the workshop
We have already mentioned the most significant feature of this fit-out: the clear geometric separation between the storage area (left wall) and the working area (right wall). This approach brings a number of concrete advantages:
1. (Potentially) nothing in the way during the working day. With a dedicated space for stowing consumables, the central aisle can stay clear and there is no need to move boxes or equipment to reach the work bench.
2. Better weight distribution in the load compartment. The heavy but bulky materials stowed on the left counterbalance the structure of the work bench, the vice and the drawers full of spare parts, small fittings and tools. Driving is easier.
3. A small site, protected and self-contained. Thanks to the worktop and the wiring in the load area, damaged or faulty parts can be tested and repaired without going back to base, working out in the open or asking the customer for help.
4. Fewer risks thanks to the clear separation of materials. Gas bottles for air conditioning systems and other heavy or sharp equipment are contained or properly secured on the left-hand side: the operator can walk down the aisle or work on the right-hand side in complete peace of mind.
The left-hand wall of the Master for plumbing and heating
The left-hand side of the Master load compartment was designed to hold spare parts, tools and equipment of various sizes safely. It features:
- Two floor-level compartments with lower doors;
- A case transport system with strap, horizontal resin-coated marine plywood surface and sheet metal side support;
- Two configurable shelves with anti-slip mat and vertical dividers, plus two more closed with a door;
- Two shelves shaped for containers holding removable BOC31 bins, ten units in all;
- A top Multibox drawer unit with ten transparent tilting drawers;
- An open compartment fitted with a Syncroblock sliding bar and securing strap.
Worth noting, on the side facing the hinged door, are two rails with straps for securing heavy loads and a bracket-mounted shelf for carrying air conditioning refill bottles safely.
The working area: a workshop along the right-hand wall
The jobs the customer carries out away from base are concentrated on the right-hand side. Here a resin-coated marine plywood work bench was built, with a retaining edge at the back. Adding a tilting vice bench with support leg widens what can be done without having to climb aboard.
The working area is served by a set of containers for small fittings and spare parts: four metal drawers and four case trays sit on top of a floor-level compartment with a door. A wall unit with twenty transparent tilting drawers was installed above.
A multi-socket power strip serves the workshop area; the user of the vehicle will connect it to a generator of his own. The addition of a Syncroblock bar with hooks and straps hints at the versatility of the bench, which can also be used to rest and carry loads.
The bulkhead, the classic flexible stowage area
Another Syncroblock bar is the only accessory fitted to the bulkhead, where the space stays clear so that long or bulky loads can be secured without getting in the way of the central aisle.
Even lighting throughout the van comes from four low-consumption LED ceiling lights fixed to the roof uprights.
