TOYOTA PROACE MAX FITTED OUT FOR VARIOUS MAINTENANCE WORK

Toyota Proace Max L2 H2 fitted out for maintenance work

The basics for effective maintenance

Every day is different for the general maintenance staff of a public authority. On any given day they might need to repair or replace street-lighting components, fix damaged fencing and deal with water leaks — moving in a matter of hours from the role of electrician to locksmith, from plumber to handyman. In these cases, a professional racking solution is what makes the difference between working well and just getting by.

With a van fitted out to measure:

  • Organisation = speed. When every piece of equipment, tool or spare part has a precise place in dedicated containers, no time is wasted looking for it!
  • Flexibility = independence. With a correct, rational use of space, everything needed can be carried on board, without having to load and unload depending on the job at hand. Fewer trips back to base, fewer delays, more problems solved in less time.
  • Protection = savings. When tools and materials are stored in secure compartments or held by tested, guaranteed load-restraint systems, everything lasts longer. What's more, bodywork linings extend the useful life of the van. Less wasted money, more investment in maintenance!

On this page we have an example of a Toyota Proace Max fitted out by Syncro System for a provincial authority that uses it for maintenance work across its territory.

The photos on this page show a Toyota Proace Max, L2 H2 model, converted by Syncro System's technicians into a mobile workshop to meet the needs of a local authority that uses it for various maintenance work on infrastructure within its area.

The van has been organised on a 2+1 layout: two walls fitted with furniture, the third with load-restraint accessories.

Most of the bodywork surface has been lined to prevent dents and scratches on the original panels. The floor has been covered with marine plywood flooring with stainless steel protection profiles; the same material lines the bulkhead, while grey powder-coated electro-galvanised panels have been applied to the side walls.

Workshop area and shelving on the left wall of the Proace Max

The left wall of the Toyota Proace Max for maintenance work is organised into two sections: the workshop area, next to the barn doors, and the more internal one, rich in open containers for tools and various consumables.

Work area: made up of a floor compartment with a patented drop-down door, four metal drawers with a non-slip mat and vertical dividers, and a workbench in marine plywood with a raised back edge to stop objects falling behind the unit. The worktop is lit by an LED light fitted to the top gutter. Three further LED lights have been fitted to the ceiling uprights. On the outer side of the unit there's a paper towel holder and a metal pocket for holding objects.

Container area: here we have a floor-mounted case retention device with a strap, five simple shelves and a top gutter for long objects with an opening at the short end.

Storage area on the Proace Max

The right wall of the Toyota Proace Max is entirely dedicated to storing spare parts, fasteners and other material useful for various jobs, with the addition of a second worktop, made up of a fold-down vice holder with a vice, positioned near the rear doors.

The storage area is made up of:

  • a floor compartment at the wheel arch, partly closed by a drop-down door;
  • a metal drawer and two removable pull-out trays for cases;
  • three shelves with dividers and a drop-down door;
  • a Multibox drawer unit with ten removable transparent drawers and a second top module with five tilting ones;
  • a hook holder positioned on the side of the unit facing the sliding door.

The Proace Max's bulkhead: accessories for maximum versatility

How can you make the most of the space on the bulkhead without any clutter? The solution our technicians often suggest, especially when the other walls are already taken up by furniture, is to fit load-restraint accessories.

In this Toyota Proace Max, the project includes two Syncroblock bars, one at the bottom with hooks and straps, the other at the top with movable, adjustable hooks.
