A van racking project starts by defining the customer's priorities and continues by translating each requirement onto paper.

The van we're presenting today is a Citroën Jumper L2 H1 belonging to a company that develops and manufactures process automation systems for the storage, transport and processing of polymers, plastic powders and food products. The van is designed to provide servicing for machines installed directly at customer sites.

Here are the main requirements received by the Syncro System technicians:

  • Make full use of 100% of the space in height and length along the side walls, to fit a large number of containers;
  • Have a work surface available without taking up storage space;
  • Make loading easier for wheeled machines and tools, as well as other heavy equipment.

Let's take a detailed look at the work that turned a mid-size van into a mobile workshop able to revolutionise users' daily work and boost professionalism and punctuality to the full!

At Syncro, even the panelling is made to measure!

Lining the van's interior bodywork is always an excellent idea: this work protects surfaces exposed to heavy stress, creates an even walking surface, prevents holes and gouges from forming, stops rust from forming and keeps the vehicle's resale value up over time.

Every customer is free to choose which surfaces to protect and which materials to use: the Syncro catalogue offers a range of options with different looks and functional features.

In this Citroën Jumper, the floor was covered with a floor panel in resin-coated marine plywood with stainless steel corner caps and trims; the cab bulkhead is partly lined with a ribbed aluminium panel, while on the walls the technicians fitted grey pre-painted, electro-galvanised panels.

The drawer: a must-have in the van!

The left-hand wall of this Citroën Jumper for machine servicing is dominated by a piece of furniture highly popular with Syncro customers: the metal drawer.

The structure is simple but extremely sturdy: the drawer is made of high-strength steel, runs on ball-bearing slides and can be pulled out fully for easier access to its contents. It opens and closes using the integrated front handle and is fitted with an automatic locking mechanism on closing. The base always has a non-slip mat and the interior can be configured as needed with dividers to keep everything organised.

On this wall there is a total of 14 drawers of various heights combined with a floor compartment with a lower door that turns it into storage, a second compartment with a case strap kit, and a double-door locker with lock.

The sliding vice holder

The customer was looking for a way to have a work surface with a minimal footprint: the answer was fitting a sliding vice holder between two levels of the furniture on the left-hand wall. When closed, it takes up very little space, just enough to support the vice. Using two simple hand wheels, the mechanism can be released to pull out a practical, highly durable laminated wood workbench.

The right-hand wall: drawers, and more

The right-hand wall is also dedicated to containers: the floor compartment is closed by a door, just like the one on the left, with three removable trays higher up holding a total of six metal tool cases, three drawers and, at the top, a shelf shaped for four removable plastic containers.

Accessories on the Jumper

The furniture is almost never complete without adding accessories: that's the case on this Jumper, enriched with several extras: first of all the LED ceiling lights fixed to the roof, which provide even lighting throughout the load space, and the indispensable paper towel dispenser, fitted on the left side and very handy for cleaning hands and tools. Underneath the paper towels is a first-aid kit and, further down, a metal pocket organiser. The same accessory is also fitted on the right side, combined with a cable holder.

On the cab bulkhead there is a load-restraint bar made up of a profiled bar with straps.

Loading without effort? With Syncro it's easy

The Syncro technicians equipped the Jumper with two features that make loading bulky, heavy machines and goods easier and safer: the winch and the ramp.

The winch is mounted against the cab bulkhead: a compact yet powerful unit offering a pulling force of over 1,500 kg thanks to a high-performance motor connected to the vehicle's battery. Using the remote control (or the cable), the cable can be unwound or wound in after hooking up the equipment to be moved on board.

The foldable aluminium ramp is perfect for effortless loading; it lets you overcome the height difference between the ground and the floor with no risk to the operator, and after use it can be folded up and placed against the cab bulkhead.
