A SYNCRO SOLUTION FOR A GREEN ENERGY FIRM’S JUMPER
A Jumper L2 H2 for a green energy business
Sustainability starts with good organisation
The van described here belongs to a company that installs and services sustainable energy systems such as photovoltaic arrays, heat pumps, and solar heating equipment. Any green energy professional will gain in credibility if their way of working is consistent with the principle of sustainability, and a well-organised van is a great place to start for at least five reasons.
1. Fewer miles travelled, reduced emissions. If everything is in place and easy to find, you don’t need to go back to base to pick up tools you forgot to bring with you.
2. Less damage to equipment, less electronic waste to dispose of. Electrical and electronic tools like power screwdrivers, thermal imaging cameras and testers are both expensive and delicate. Carrying them in snug, dedicated compartments helps prevent unwanted movement and premature breakage.
3. Less waste and fewer unnecessary purchases. With well-organised and easily accessible storage, the need to repurchase lost items is virtually eliminated.
4. Less scrap and improved reliability. Cables, connectors and sensors last far longer when stored in special containers and protected from dust and moisture.
5. Your van stays in tip-top condition. And now for the last reason (but the first job on the list for Syncro racking installers). Fitting liners protects your van’s interior against damage and puts off the need to replace it for many years to come.
A Citroën Jumper for installing green energy systems
Today’s van is a Citroën Jumper L2 H2. The customer chose not to do anything to the bulkhead and to leave one wall almost completely free while exploiting the full length of the other. Respecting this requirement, Syncro System’s racking installers concentrated their efforts on the left side, where they installed a generous storage system consisting of drawers, shelves, case trays and a vice bench. On the right of the van they only added a few accessories.

Liners? Yes, please!
Lining the interior of your van is always recommended, especially if the sides are to be left without the protection afforded by racking. Exposed surfaces in your van’s cargo compartment are clearly likely to suffer from dents and scratches!
In this Citroën Jumper, the floor is protected by a plywood floor liner with a marble-look surface and stainless-steel edge profiles and anchor ring cups. The van’s walls are lined with panels of grey, galvanised and painted steel.

The Jumper’s left wall: a complete warehouse at the user’s disposal
All the equipment needed to install and service renewable energy systems can be carried on this side of the Jumper thanks to a racking system that consists of:
- a floor-level compartment with a lift-up door over the wheel arch
- a floor-level case compartment with a bar and strap retaining system and end plate for supporting the cases
- seven configurable shelves, each with a non-slip mat in the bottom to stop cargo sliding around, and with vertical partitions to divide the space into rational compartments
- two pull-out case trays containing a total of four metal cases
- a full-length top tray for long items with a fold-down door at the rear
The vice bench: almost invisible but definitely useful
Even a small work surface inside your van greatly reduces the need to drive back and forth between work site and workshop. Some sort of bench is essential for carrying out repairs, modifications and adjustments directly on site!
In this Jumper this purpose is served by a pull-out vice bench installed between two elements of racking. When closed, the bench takes up only the room needed for the vice itself. The bench can be deployed quickly and easily by releasing the two locking levers at the front and pulling it out. When locked in extended position, it forms a stable and robust work surface.
The right of the Jumper, free but with useful accessories
The advantage of leaving one or more walls free inside your van can be summarised in just two words: cargo space. In this Jumper, both the right wall and the bulkhead have been left free from racking. This leaves plenty of floorspace for carrying bulky cargo, which can be loaded through the sliding side door or the swing doors at the rear.
The only addition requested by the van’s owner is a length of Syncroblock bar fixed to the top of the right wall and equipped with adjustable telescopic hooks.
