A good van is an indispensable partner for any plumber. It can serve as a travelling warehouse and workshop as well as a means of transport.

To do this, it needs to be properly equipped to meet the needs of its user. On this page we present the example of a Toyota Proace City, an L1 H1 version, owned by a firm operating in the plumbing sector, fitted with Syncro racking on both sides and a roof rack. Let’s take a look at the advantages of this arrangement, just one of an almost infinite number of ways in which the model can be fitted out.

Liners = a longer lasting van. How to extend the life of your van with Syncro

Whatever make and model your van is, and whatever your trade or profession is, the same rule applies: always line the cargo compartment before installing racking. Covering the original floor with a robust floor liner is the best way to improve wear resistance, protect against spillages and distribute the weight of cargo. This van has a resin-coated marine plywood floor liner.

Lining the walls and doors with custom-made panels – especially ones made from steel – is the best way to defend against scratches, dents and perforations. In this case, only the doors have been protected.

One of the main purposes of installing liners – and one that should never be forgotten – is to prevent rust. Dents and scratches can easily allow rust to spread, causing serious damage to the bodywork and necessitating expensive repairs! So it’s always best to cover, insulate and reinforce your van’s interior.

The Toyota Proace City also features a fairly simple racking system, but with columns on both sides. On the left, the area at floor level is divided into two sections, one with a lift-and-rotate door and one open. Above these are three configurable shelves with bottom mats and dividers. The configuration on the right is very similar but smaller to leave space for the side door. Here too the column consists of a floor-level compartment with a door and three small shelves.

This is a GOOD SOLUTION if you want to have storage on both sides of the van and do not need to carry large items of cargo on board.

It’s NOT SO GOOD if you need to work inside your van or need enclosed storage.

How to make the most of your van by carrying equipment on the roof

The Proace City is also fitted with an Ultrasilent roof rack consisting of cross bars, side fences and a rear loading roller. All types of Syncro System roof rack come with an Ultrasilent noise reducing profile. This ridged rubber profile is located under the first cross bar and effectively breaks up the air flow passing underneath when the van is moving. Syncro roof racks save space inside your van by letting you carry awkwardly shaped items on the roof in total safety. Your time on the road is quieter too, with far less annoying noise and vibration.
