A COMPARISON OF TWO OPEL COMBO SOLUTIONS FOR THE SAME COMPANY
Two different Syncro-equipped Combos for the same company
Combo racking solutions: with Syncro the possibilities are endless
The two racking solutions presented on this page clearly show that there is no single, standard solution, and that every installation is based on a careful analysis of the customer’s needs.
In this case, a company asked us to fit out two Opel Combo L1 H1 vans. The firm involved specialises in servicing and repairing industrial machinery.
The two vehicles will supplement the same fleet of vans but will be used in different ways:
- One will be used by mechanics who work mainly on scheduled maintenance and who need to carry with them a wide range of spares and components (Combo 1).
- The other will be used by mechanics dealing with breakdowns and emergencies, who require a flexible load space to carry larger parts and assemblies (Combo 2).
Same Combos, same company, completely different solutions
These two requests have resulted in racking configurations that use available space in radically different ways.
In Combo (1), racking covers the full height and length of both walls, including the opening at the sliding side door. Part of the bulkhead is also occupied by a compressed air tank.
In Combo (2), the choice of under-floor drawers has left plenty of free floor space despite the presence of racking along the left wall.

Combo (1): high-density storage with total accessibility
In Combo (1), Syncro has reserved the left wall for spares and small parts. A floor-level compartment with a lift-and-rotate door supports MultiBox cabinets that provide 15 large pull-out containers and 20 smaller ones. Because these containers are perfectly transparent, you can see at a glance what is inside. The only accessory added to this column of racking is a cable holder.
Racking has been installed for the full length of the van’s right wall, covering even the opening of the side door. The configuration on this side can be divided into three vertical sections. The rearmost consists of a shelf housing a compressor pump head and two metal drawers. The central section contains four configurable shelves. The forward section comprises six metal drawers and an open compartment at floor level, facing outwards from the side door to permit access without having to climb aboard. A full-length top shelf completes the racking on this side. The back of the forward column is equipped with bars and lashing straps holding a large compressed air tank against the bulkhead.
A paper roll holder, a metal storage pocket and an LED tube light under the roof complete the equipment installed in this van.
Combo (2): the secret lies under the floor
The racking installed in Combo (2) revolves around an underfloor drawer system. Over the original floor, Syncro has installed a robust steel frame housing two capacious long drawers that open from the rear of the van and two smaller drawers that open through the side door. The raised floor covering these drawers forms a strong, walkable surface. A column of racking has been installed on the left side of this new floor, consisting of a case compartment with end plate, shuttle and lashing strap, and two configurable shelves. An Ecoflow Delta 2 Max power station has been installed on the top shelf while a spray can rack and a paper roll holder have been fixed to the rear-facing side panel.
Want to fit out a fleet of vans in a targeted, professional manner?
Companies that operate fleets of vans have different options open to them. They may choose identical or similar racking solutions for all their vehicles, making them interchangeable for operators, or they may decide to equip vans differently, depending on intended use.
Thanks to a superbly flexible product system based on freely configurable racking elements and accessories, and an extensive catalogue that is regularly expanded to specific customer needs, Syncro System can satisfy all these needs.
