A van for a mountain-area multi-utility company: the Ford Transit

The van in these photos is a Ford Transit L2 H2 owned by a multi-utility company that serves a mountainous area. The van is equipped to perform general repairs, installation and maintenance work on the company's infrastructure.

All three internal walls have been equipped, with combinations of racking and accessories chosen to meet the needs expressed at the consultation stage.

How to create a solid base: liners!

It's difficult for racking to be strong if it is not fixed to equally robust liners. To enable your van to withstand the stress of working on the move, it really is essential to protect its interior. How to do so, however, is up to you…

Ford Transit L2 H2: A simple set of liners has been installed in this van. The floor is protected by a resin-coated marine plywood liner with steel edge protectors while the walls are protected by painted steel panels. Only the upper sections of the doors have had liners fitted.

Making the most of the space: the left wall of the Ford Transit

What's the best way to organise space in your van? With Syncro, the possibilities are endless, but the final decision is always based on the needs of your job, the space available, and how frequently the different racking elements will be used.

Let's look at how the left wall of the multi-utility company's Transit has been arranged.

Ford Transit L2 H2: The left of this van offers a large number of containers. At the bottom are two floor-level compartments, one partly enclosed by a patented lift-and-rotate door, the other equipped with a universal shuttle-type case transport kit. Adjacent to the bulkhead is a secure, double-door locker. Three shelves are arranged one above the other in the central section, while almost all the remaining space – except for the full-length top tray – is occupied by specially shaped shelves carrying a total of 32 removable containers for small parts and spares.

Ford Transit L2 H2: the racking on the right of this van is relatively simple, consisting only of a floor-level compartment with a lift-and-rotate door and a series of six shelves. Practical accessory: a fold-away bench with vice and built-in support has been fixed to the racking's rear-facing side panel.

How to equip the bulkhead? The choice is yours, based on your working needs!

The bulkhead is often left clear as the perfect place to carry bulky items. Cargo and equipment can be loaded through the side door, leaving the corridor in the centre of the van free.

The bulkhead is used in an original way in this van.

Ford Transit L2 H2. In this case, the design of the bulkhead area was determined by the need to carry and have easy access to a generator. The equipment in question is mounted on a pull-out slide and held in place by a support fixed to the bulkhead and equipped with a Syncroblock bar and lashing strap.

Accessories for all needs, from Syncro

The Syncro catalogue always has the right accessory for your needs. And you can always add accessories at a later date, after your racking has been installed! This vehicle for a multi-utility company contains a good selection of accessories. Here is a brief overview.

Ford Transit L2 H2. On the left: essential accessories for cleaning tools and hands, comprising a handwash kit and soap dispenser on the door and a paper roll holder on the racking side panel. On the right: an adjustable bracket fixed to Airline rails on the door, used to carry a telescopic ladder. At the top of the bulkhead: an inverter and multi-socket connected to the vehicle's battery.
