FORD COURIER RACKING FOR ELECTRICIANS

“I’m sorry, I’ve got go back to get a part.” How many times have you had to repeat these words? Too many, we’re sure, because when you arrive at your customer’s premises and realise that you are missing the connector, part or cable you need to finish the job, your day is already ruined. You waste time, lose face, and probably have to postpone the next job too.

Since 1996, Syncro System has fitted out thousands of vans for electricians. On this page we present a solution installed in a Ford Courier, a compact van that’s ideal for manoeuvring through city streets or tackling narrow mountain roads.

The van has been fitted with Syncro racking on the left wall only. All remaining surfaces have been left free, except for a few cargo retaining accessories.

Thanks to the vast range of items in the Syncro catalogue and the amazing flexibility of Syncro racking, the configuration of this racking system has been tailored to meet the customer’s specific needs. Let’s take a closer look.

As always, the first stage in this racking project was to protect the interior against dents and scratches. The floor has been covered with a floor liner made from resin-coated marine plywood with stainless-steel anchor ring cups and edge profiles. The customer also requested wall liners, choosing the lightest material available for this purpose, honeycomb polypropylene.

The left wall of the van is entirely occupied by racking.

In this van the single racking column starts at floor level with a compartment for transporting cases, equipped with a special kit consisting of an end plate, hooks, strap and shuttle. The central section of the column is divided into two parts. On the left are three pull-out trays with Systainer3 stackable cases. On the right are three metal drawers with anti-slip bottom mats and internal dividers. At the top is a shelf with five removable plastic containers.

No bulky racking or accessories have been installed, either on the right wall or on the bulkhead of the van shown on this page.

This is no coincidence. The decision made by the electrician who owns the Courier offers a number of advantages:

• Maximum load flexibility: even bulky materials can be carried without having to change the configuration of the racking or zigzag between opposite columns.
• Faster loading and unloading: easy access and unrestricted movement when handling bulky items mean less risk of damage to the racking and bodywork.
• Increased payload: the absence of racking allows you to carry more weight – something particularly useful if you often need to transport heavy items.
• Improved ergonomics: moving around in the van is far easier and there is also less risk of injury.

Looking more closely, the van has been partially equipped with accessories: a cable holder at the top of the right wall and a Syncroblock slider bar with hooks and lashing straps in the centre of the bulkhead.
