On this page you can see a racking solution designed by Syncro System for a Fiat Ducato L2 H2 owned by a company that produces, sells and services heat pumps. Because the van is used to provide a maintenance service, bulky equipment, delicate materials, tools and spare parts of various sizes all have to be carried. The interior must therefore be spacious, easily accessible and well organised to allow safe working, keep everything under control and allow tasks to be tackled in an orderly, efficient manner.

The Ducato illustrated here has racking on both sides and on the bulkhead, but particular attention has been paid to maintaining ample floor space for ease of operation. The van came into Syncro’s workshop with a floor liner already installed. Our racking experts supplemented this with grey, galvanised and painted panels on the side walls and a stainless-steel bumper footplate at the rear doors.

Before we delve into the details, let’s see how the flexibility of Syncro racking enabled the solution installed in this Ducato to be fully customised.

Why Syncro racking offers maximum flexibility

Syncro System van racking stands out for the modular, flexible way in which it allows you to organise your tools, consumables and bulky spare parts in a precise, fully customised manner. Syncro racking has allowed this heat pump service to:

  • combine shelves, floor-level compartments and full-length trays to carry indoor units, electronic equipment and pre-assembled piping
  • think outside the box and arrange elements in an original way to suit the way work is organised
  • adopt innovative solutions when standard racking and accessories are unable to solve a problem
  • stow hardware such as fittings, screws, cable glands, sensors, PCBs and electrical components in small drawers
  • use the holes in the racking side panels to mount accessories
  • create areas for the safe transport of bulky or delicate cargo, with the help of dedicated or multi-purpose retaining systems
  • change the configuration of the racking at a future date by adding or moving modules as requirements evolve.

A dedicated place for cable channels, pipes and long items

The left wall stands out for the presence of two full-length trays. These extend for the entire length of the wall to permit the transport of particularly long items and are arranged in parallel, one above the other. Full-length trays are usually located at the very top of racking columns, but in this van they have been used as key elements of the solution. Their position at mid-height ensures easy access to long items like the pipes, cable channels, threaded rods and special tools required by heat pump engineers in their work.

Beneath the trays on the same wall is a heavy-duty rail and lashing strap. This area is therefore ideal for quickly stowing compressors, outdoor units, or bulky machinery or boxes, with the certainty that they will not slide around when the van is moving.

Syncro engineers also made use of the roof area on this side, installing an under-roof ladder rack, a practical solution that saves valuable floor space and eliminates the need for roof racks and supports. The ladder is suspended on a shuttle that locks automatically in place when it reaches its end stop. This solution ensures a minimum footprint, as well as protecting your ladders against the weather and the risk of theft.

The simplest racking is sometimes the most functional

The right wall of the Ducato is equipped with a series of six configurable shelves installed over a floor-level compartment with a raised bottom profile. Each shelf has a non-slip mat at the bottom to holding cargo in place while the van is moving. Shelf space can be partitioned as required by inserting metal dividers. Here again, we have a modular design which ensures that material is clearly visible and immediately accessible, maximising functionality and permitting easy adaptation to changing operational needs.

A second rail with lashing strap has been attached to the side panel of the racking.

The racking on the Ducato’s bulkhead

Though not always required, racking can also be installed on the bulkhead, especially in large vans. In this Ducato for a heat pump service, the bulkhead racking consists of a floor-level compartment, four metal drawers and a set of three configurable shelves.

➡️An important detail! The interior of the van is brightly lit by LED tube lights installed under the roof!
